Steamfitters Local Union 420 Supports Philadelphia Ronald

McDonald House’s Expansion in West Philadelphia

Expansion Project will More than Double the Number of Families Served by the House

PHILADELPHIA (September 2017) – The Steamfitters Local Union 420 has proudly announced its support of the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House (PRMH) “Room in Our Hearts Campaign for Expansion” in Philadelphia with a gift of $50,000 in support of the new tower at the House on Chestnut Street.

Along with the renovation of its existing structures, the PRMH expansion will enable the organization to go from serving approximately 800 families annually over the past few years to an estimated 1,900 families while increasing available room nights from approximately 16,000 to more than 40,000 per year. The project includes a new 8-story, 93,000 sq. ft. tower, adding 88 bedrooms while modernizing others, more than doubling its capacity to house, feed and nurture families through social and other support services.

“The Steamfitters Local Union 420 is thrilled to make this gift to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House’s Room in Our Hearts campaign for expansion,” said Anthony Gallagher, Local 420 Building Manager. “This project means a lot to the members of Local 420—as the House benefits thousands of families with seriously ill children every year—and we are very proud to be a part of it.”

“We greatly appreciate the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades commitment to our project and to the Steamfitters Local Union 420 as the first building trade to officially provide support to this project with their generous donation,” said PRMH Executive Director Susan Campbell. “Their investment in this critical expansion will help us get closer to our goal of doubling the number of families we serve each year so that we no longer have to turn families away during their greatest time of need.”

Pat Pasquariello, the CEO of P. Agnes, Inc., the Construction Manager for the expansion project echoed the excitement of the donation stating that “P. Agnes has had a long term relationship with the members and leadership of Steamfitters Union Local 420 and we share a commitment to supporting the services provided by the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.  We look forward to continuing this relationship with the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House through a shared commitment by our firm and local labor to the success of the current expansion project.”

The tower is expected to be completed at the end of 2018 and will create hundreds of construction jobs.   More information on the expansion is available at www.philarmh.org/MakeRoom.
