M&SCA Contractor Member Receives NMAPC Gold Star Zero Injury Safety Award for Work performed at Marcus Hook Industrial Complex.

NMAPC (National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee) Gold Star Zero Injury Safety Awards are given to contractors who have worked over one million man hours in a year (or more) on a specific project, have no recordable injuries and contractors must have a written safety program with management commitment to the Zero Injury Philosophy. On Nov. 2, 2017 Nooter Construction received a Gold Star Award for the work performed on the Mariner East 2 (ME2) Project at the Marcus Hook Industrial Complex. Also recognized was Sunoco Logistics and the Philadelphia Building Trades.

Nooter began work on the ME2 project in mid-2015 and continued through 2016. During this period Nooter Construction worked 1,309,245 man hours with zero recordable injuries. Pipefitters, Boilermakers, Electricians, Ironworkers, Laborers, and Millwrights worked two ten hour shifts, six days a week during most of this period, on a congested site that peaked at 3,000 people. Installing more than 170,000’ of pipe, erecting 4,000 tons of steel, rigging and setting over 100 pieces of equipment while pulling 800,000’ of cable; this work was planned & executed safely delivering the project on time and under budget. It is a testament to the dedication of Labor, site supervision and management to have completed this work with zero injuries.
