Following elections the attendees heard from M&SCA of Eastern PA's federal lobbyist, Mike Oscar, who provided updates on relevant legislation in Washington DC and Harrisburg as well as a projection of the 2018 elections.  Important issues that were highlighted included multiemployer pension reform, the Cadillac Tax, the Renewable Fuel Standard point of obligation, and Prompt Pay legislation.

The evening's Keynote speaker, MCAA President-Elect Mike Brandt, highlighted some of the exciting events coming up with the MCAA, including the Annual MCAA Convention this March in San Antonio, the Safety Directors Conference this month, the ever popular MCAA Fabrication conference, the MSCA Service Managers Program and the MCAA Field Leaders conference.  He also discussed the better-than-ever relationship between the MCAA and the UA and the various resources available to members of the MCAA available on the MCAA website, such as Management Methods Bulletins, Safety Videos, and especially WebLEM, the valuable web-based labor estimating resource.  Lastly, he cited the importance of volunteerism and recognized our contractor members for the outstanding contributions they make to our industry on a national level.  Nearly every MCAA committee has a representative from the M&SCA of Eastern PA and our Association has more graduates of the ALI program than any other local association in the country.  We were also recognized for our donation of $10k to the MCAA Disaster Relief Fund, which helps UA and MCAA family members whose lives have been turned upside down by the recent natural disasters to hit Texas and Florida.

We would like to extend congratulations to the Chairman of the M&SCA of Eastern PA PAC Committee Jim Gaffney for being named National Chairman of the MCAA Government Affairs Committee.  Jim has led the fight for many legislative issues affecting our industry over the years and will continue to be a great advocate at the helm of the national committee.

The evening was capped off with the Poker Tournament and Casino Night.  The top chip winners of the evening were:

1st Place: Mike Brandt, MCAA

2nd Place: Joe McMonigle, Plumbers Local 690

After a hard fought Texas Hold 'Em Tournament, our first, second, and third place winners were as follows:

1st Place: Jon Hansell, Goshen Mechanical

2nd Place: Dan Garback, Herman Goldner Company

3rd Place: Pat Cooney, Cooney Coil & Energy

Thank you to all of the evening's sponsors.  Without your generosity, events like these would not be possible.
