The 2017 Annual M&SCA Winter Membership Meeting took place on the evening of Thursday, January 19th at the Renaissance Airport Hotel in Philadelphia. A record number of members were in attendance and enjoyed a cocktail hour, dinner, and casino night.
Mark Rogers, MCA Board President, began the evening by welcoming everyone and Joe Miele, MCA Emeritus Board Member, led us in prayer before dinner commenced.
After guests had a chance to enjoy their dinner, Mark Rogers, Joe Miele, and Bob Veight took the stage to conduct the 2017 MCA/SCA Board Member elections. A voice vote was cast and the following individuals were elected to serve 2 year terms:
Following the elections, M&SCA of Eastern PA honored two individuals that have given so much time and effort to improving our Association. New SCA president Add Anderson said a few words about outgoing SCA President Bob Baranowski. At the end of the speech, Bob was presented with a hand-crafted plaque commemorating his time as president and thanking him for his years of service to the Association. MCA President Mark Rogers and outgoing SCA President Bob Baranowski then said a few words about retiring MCA and SCA Board member Ed Quinn. Ed was also presented with a plaque for his years of service to our Association.
Guests were then able to hear updates from our two speakers. First Mike Oscar, M&SCA of Eastern PA's Federal lobbyist, updated members on the effects the new administration will have on our industry as well as the outlook on several pieces of legislation we are working on in both DC and Harrisburg. Our second speaker, MCAA President Tom Stone, spoke to the members about the current state of our industry as well as what members can do to get involved with the national association.
The evening was capped off with the Poker Tournament and Casino Night. After a hard fought Texas Hold 'Em Tournament, our first, second, and third place winners were as follows:
1st Place: Dan Fierstein, Cohen Seglias
2nd Place: Mike Kearney, General Controls
3rd Place: Joe McElwee, Herman Goldner, Co.
